re: : As Michael mentioned above, we decided on a few changes to my initial proposal following our group discussion. The final output of this project will now be a composition, complete with a score and a mixed and mastered audio recording of a performance of the work. I'll also include some longer pre-mi...

re: : This looks exciting to me Lorcan but in our discussion I gave you a strong steer towards composition rather than improvisation, for all the reasons we discussed. I also mentioned including a score. We need to agree on that in writing here. I would also ask you to consider, given that you're going...

re: Lorcan Doherty - Final Project: Introduction I intend to develop an interactive music system in Max/MSP for live improvisation. The project will culminate in a live, interactive improvisatory performance, at least 20 minutes in length, where I will perform using found objects and acoustic musical instruments. re: installations as a final project - general inquires: In the hope that it will apply to other students in the future, I'm posting a recent discussion with Michael regarding some general inquiries about doing an audiovisual collaborative installation as a final project: This short video documents in detail exactly what we did: [link]...

re: : Which instruments and hammy performance do you envisage? I am not quite sure what you mean by this. The instrument is based on a violin bow that has been modified using resistive fabric. The movement on the seat and the performers unused gestures will also feed in to the system. The key wil...

re: : It sounds like you have two ideas: first that of conversation and second the analysis of sound recordings. Either these should be fused or one should take precedence over the other. If you are going to use the notion of conversation then you definitely should include the results of formal research i...

re: : Immediate thoughts: first of all yes, this kind of thing should be fine, but: I think you should submit a score; you need to be working on the report all the way through not just at the end; I think you need a more detailed time frame with very specific milestones throughout; you need to consider h...
